Depends on your gear vrs theirs. In eso theyve added battle leveling. Int he early days you could turn it off to se ehow could you realy were vrs the max cp kid. Now its always on. Your actually more buffed sheet wise as a lower level with gold armor. You can put up a fight.

In bdo, their are no training wheels. Once you hit 50, anyone can attack you outside a city at any time. If your lower gear or level your getting deleted. If your gear matches up at mid to low range its a fun fight. There are squishier classes then others but its not huge. At top tier, everyone does quick. The basic rule of thumb was first one to get cced loses. And it was generally true. BUUUUT. Bdo is undergoing a monthly complete combat change. Since the first two weeks, fights are lasting much longer, are more evenly balanced and ccs are changing. There making it much more of an interesting combat system then first on their back loses or whoever has better SuperArmor wins. I will say, with these changes, if your unsergeared its even more of a disadvantage. Since you no longer have as many class skills/buffs to help you survive. But it has made equal geared and top tier fights much more interesting.

To some it up, under geared under leveled your getting one shot. Same level a bit of a fight, can be one comboed. Top tiered, to be decided..

Also, Id like to add nightblades rarely could gank you solo with good gear and decent skill unless they used the desync of snipe and that had nothing to do with the class and everything to do with the crap construction of the game.

So when you are in the combat zones you are saying you can basically be attacked at any time. I expected that. But how about when you aren't flagged. People said there was an option to have it on or off.

Even if you have yo flag off if someone else has there's on they can attack anybody they want regardless of if you have yours on or off but they will lose karma for killing you if they kill you

You can NEVER turn off combat unless your in town. EVERY WHERE is a combat zone but town. And theres nothing to do in town but lifeskill. You barey take any durability unless you take damage, but the player being attacked will have the gear **** canned. If you dont put up a fight you wont give the attacker any damage whatsoever really. Deff not if they have there gear branded. That being said, open world pvp is the highest durability damaging thing in game if you can put up a fight. And gets VERY expensive. Unless they dec on your guild. I suggest anyone not wanting to always fight for a spot to remain guildless. But even then some people dont care about karma and will bomb you out.

My best advice is to stay good manered. Rule of thumb is duel for the spot if someone else shows up. If you dont wanna duel swap channels. If a player kills you more then three times, swap channels or find a new spot. Never karma bomb anyone. You get a name for yourself or guild quick. And politics are EVERYTHING in bdo. Money is power. And the quickest way to money is node wars / sieges. Allys are important. And if you get a bad name for yourselves guild wont pick you up and other guilds wont want to work with you.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps they will rework the karma system to be more penalizing to others who seek to do wrong, and make it hard to get out of negative karma for serious offenders and reward people for great behavior.

It needs to be the opposite. They need to make it so you get LESS karma and out of negative quicker. Too many people karma bomb because they dont have the skill or gear to take your spot and force you to go red. Being red sucks. If you die, you lose 6 hours of xp and break crystals in your gear. Most people just make a red toon to get around this. Purely designed to deal with karma bombers. What you have to understand is this game is made for pvp. Its all about it. Its pvp is centered around owning areas. Whether they are regions, nodes or grind spots. If you cant win, YOU LEAVE. Its a fantastic system. When someone comes along that “doesnt wanna fight” or thinks they deserve the spot because they were there first its annoying. But honestly i go red everytime and dont let them leave the node or play the game. Its too easy to just leave and let the better player have the spot or swap channels. Its a fantastic system that weeds out lesser players. It pushes you to get out there and get gains and learn your class better. The day they make it easier to karma bomb or add an option to turn off pvp is the day they will lose 95% of the pc population.

The problem is that too many think the primary reason for pvp in this game is killing and griefing low levels. I think they need to make the negative karma go toward all the toons on the account.

They never will. Grieving would be going into someones zone without the intent on owning it or fighting. You misread the point or maybe dont understand what grieving  typically is, atleast in bdo.

The issue and the problem is when a lower level thinks its okay to grief and karma bomb other players and interfere with their grind. This forces the player to either be grieved or to burn karma. Now you dont see this often, most players are respectful and simply duel for spot or leave if they know they dont stand a chance. Occasionally, theres that special kind of silly that comes along that thinks its fun to grief or karma bomb you or that their entitled to grind somewhere because they were there first (usually have no place in even being there in the first place)

Theres not many geared players out there looking to start fights with lowbies.. usually they have moved on to higher profit areas. And if you do run into one, you can always throw them in the bounty hunter discord where someone who makes a day out of punishing jerks will come help. Beware of this, it will turn on you if they find out you just lost your spot and wouldnt leave and werent actually being abused and then your the one getting hunted lol.

The whole game is based fundamentally around owning regions, nodes and zones by open world pvp. If that sounds bad toanyone,  Id suggest not to play. Because it wont ever go away. Also if you ever plan on joining a guild get use to it, once the dec on you it now costs them nothing to farm you along with the adds.

Oh no, don't misunderstand me, I'm in favor of battling/dueling over grind areas, but tbh I don't care whether or not they change it or make a "safe mode". If they did, people would just find a way to exploit that anyway so better left alone.

Unfortunately pc players have commented that they like "camping" outside of town just to kill low level players and P**s them off. I think some have even posted as much on this forum. I have zero respect or tolerance for people like that, the game and the world doesn't need people like that.

welp, thats where guilds come into play. if your small, you are worse off in a guild because you can be decced. But if your big, you zerg the guys out lol. You rarely see people doing things like that, but if so its just a simple channel swap. Thats why i hope we get multiple channels. It would be so toxic without it. Now pushing someone to the node is different then waiting outside of town.. most players consider the fight over once they spawn town instead of node. But the bounty hunter discord has tons of white knights who love to come handle people like that lol.

The pvp on PC is a mess at the moment. Combat has gotten slower and what made classes special and fun to play has greatly diminished with the patch yesterday. The only people that like the changes are people lower than 220ap and those who could not thrive in pvp. PA openly stated that they've changed the combat because it was too difficult for casual players to memorize the skill sets of other classes lol. The game needed balancing and some classes we're a bit strong (lingering SA and grabs) but now it's in a worst state. Beforehand, a softcap player of 253ap could easily outplay a player with 270-280ap with skill, counter play and knowledge of the class and it's openings. Now with the recent changes and renown patch, gear is even more important and the softcap player is at a huge disadvantage compared to the higher geared player. Mass PvP is also now a CC fest with classes having LESS options during combat since they've removed SA on 90% of skills. Sieges / Node Wars have now become a waiting game of trying to bait the other side into engaging first and many of the top tier siege guilds are considering quitting. It is highly likely Pearl Abyss is making these changes in an attempt to capture the casual market on the console version by slowing the game down and lowering the skill ceiling. What we'll receive on console will probably be a shadow of what the combat use to be, in an attempt to make the game playable using a controller. It's a shame, really.

I too think alot of these changes were fueled by console and lead me to believe they will patch all versions the same. But I like the idea that the first one one the ground wont lose now. I like the idea that battles and fights last longer. One v Ones to me are WAY better then before. People actually get a chance to stand back up and fights.. Large scale is kinda messed up tho for sure. I would like to see class changes but hate that were seeing a slower pace. Hoping a little life gets brought back into things with future updates. Its important to remember were not done with the rework yet. And the question still stands.. What do you play instead? Bless is a joke.. Eso's pvp is a joke.. even if the run bdo into the ground combat wise.. it most likely will still have the best combat system out and be the strongest pvp based mmo out.

I have no problem with longer lasting fights. All they needed to do was rescale how AP works and lessen the gap between lower and higher geared players and make a few nerfs and adjustments of certain classes with infinite SA rotations and lingering SA. But instead they took the route of diminishing the use of abilities and play style of classes that made them fun. That's my biggest issue..

Also with how they're handling the patches. The game basically went back into alpha and it doesn't seem like they test any of their changes.

Yeah bless was pretty bad when I played the KR version a few months back, so that's a no go for me. At this point it's Camelot Unchained or bust for me as far as PvP focused MMOs go if BDO doesn't get any better. Hopefully PA can figure this **** out before the console release. I was really looking forward to playing with my friends on Xbox.

what is this pve you speak of? havent seen any of that in bdo... unless you count face rolling mobs for hours for drops pve... no dungeons, raids, trials, or quests really. quests are pretty much kill 100 of these mobs and talk to blah blah blah.. if pve is what you seek eso is your best bet. theres basically none in bdo. just lifeskilling and pvp.

Why does it need to be the opposite. If you are in a grinding spot, you shouldn't be penalized for defending yourself. I'm all for fighting for a spot, but there is a difference between self defence and the person who is starting the fight. Which is basically my point. The person who starts the fight should be the one to go red, not the one who fights back. If thats how it works from what you were saying in your previous post. That would be nice, because less people would interfere even more and more people would enjoy grinding. I don't think thats a bad idea at all. It wont stop players from fighting, but mainly peanilize the person who is starting the fight instead of the person who is doing no wrong. It's this severe punishment system in BDO that I simply don't comprehend. Lol.

Also, the bounty hunter discord isn't known to 99% of the players on Xbox, so that isn't going to work.

Say if I was grinding at a spot and you flag up and just go all out and I end up killing you I wont lose anything for killing you but if you hit me a few times and run off and I chase you and kill you I will lose karma..... The first post I said ignore that they wont lose karma if they attack you and you kill them but you definitely wont lose anything though

Has it been reworked over time? People randomly showing up at my farm spot is annoying. So basically if they start it, they suffer.  Why does it change if you "chase" them? You are still defending yourself. #karmalogic

NO. Only the person that choses to start it loses karma. They lose a bit for attacking you and 50-120k for killing you dependig on your difference of level. Max karma os 300k and must be grinded back up by killing mobs. If i flag up and hit u a few times, you can attack me without flagging up for free. This last about 30 seconds after the last time i attack you. So if i keep attacking you you can fight back for free. If i run you have 30seconds of free time to try and kill me or flag up on your own.

You got the idea. You cant make gains if people come into your area. Thats where it sucks. If you attack them you loose. Even if they are griefing you by killing your mobs.
