Black Desert Version 1.2

Recommended Posts

Adventurers,

Mediah, the gateway to the east, has opened. This semi-arid land to the east of Serendia is rich in culture, materials and so much more. But behind the picturesque scenery, lies murder, deceit and powerful monsters.

New Region Update - New Towns and Nodes of Mediah

With the expansion to the east, approximately forty new nodes have opened up. With Mediah being the trading hub that it is, these nodes are especially important to increase your influence across the world of Black Desert.

The new region also includes new towns and cities to explore. From the vast and bustling trade center of Altinova, to the mysterious Tarif, home of the Sorceress, there is so much to explore.

Exploration is dangerous work, however.
The Sausans, native to the region of Mediah, have taken up arms and currently occupy the Sausan Garrison to the north. The Helms, another tribe native to the region, have also entrenched themselves to the west of Mediah at Helms Post. These native tribes are not welcoming of newcomers, but those who can break through their lines will find new weapons, armor and accessories that cannot be found anywhere else!

Down in the south, Rhutums, Red Orcs, Saunils, and Khurutos have overtaken the Abandoned Iron Mines. What was once the crown jewel of industry in the region, is now over run and Mediah will greatly appreciate anyone who can dent the numbers of these races that have taken over.

Talking about jewels of the Mediah Region, the Merchants Guild used to use the Omar Lava Cave as their natural foundry. The area was lost during the 3 days of darkness, when the silence of night made way to an ear shattering explosion. Since then, most of the Lava Caves have been taken over by the Ferrids.

Illezra’s influence is also felt in Mediah. The Wandering Rogue Den is filled to the brim of her followers, who will do anything she asks to ensure her goals are accomplished. These hooded figures, with piercing red eyes strike an intimidating figure for anyone who wanders too close to this area.

New Sea Content Opened

Mediah is not the only region to have opened up. The currents in the waters around Velia and Port Epheria has subsided, and the islands in this region are now accessible.

Lema Island used to be a very important supply stopover for ships heading north into the oceans, but due to the Cox Pirates, this once thriving supply stop is slowly being starved. Calpheon would like to eliminate the pirates that have called the Kuit Islands their home. Although Calpheon are sending the Trina Marine Knights, they will surely appreciate the help of adventurers to cleanse the Cox Pirates from the region.

Quests and Knowledge

A whole new adventure begins as the Mediah story takes a whole new turn. This brand-new story brings new quests never seen before, and will feature 2 new crossroads bringing more intrigue and mystery to the Mediah region!

As the region of Mediah has opened up, there are all new Knowledge categories to explore. From the People of Mediah to the Ecology, there are many new things to learn about the region.

Tavern Quests
New Tavern quests are available from the Altinova area. These quests are quest scrolls that can be purchased from Datu Varudatu and are on a 30 minute cooldown period. The more amity you attain with Datu, the better quests you can purchase. The advanced quests are more demanding but offer better rewards.

New Dishes and Potions
Mediah adds a whole host of new recipes to cook and a new collection of potions that will help you become stronger.

New Items to Collect

These uncivilized types also have their hands on some incredibly powerful items. The Asula’s Crimson Eye accessories can be found scattered across different regions of the game, and these accessories can unlock an adventurers’ true power, and are especially useful for new adventurers.

Despite the raw power of the Asula’s Crimson Eye set, they have already reached their latent potential. There are also some accessories in the region which lack the raw power of the Asula’s Crimson Eye set but can be enhanced to be so much more.

The Necklace of Shultz the Gladiator and the Belt of Shultz the Gladiator are incredibly powerful accessories that can be found in Mediah. These items once belonged to the Sausan champion Schultz, who dominated the Arena of Altinova. His performance in the Arena elevated his status, and these items that once belonged to him are incredibly sought after.

Down in the Hasrah Ancient Ruins lies powerful stone guardians. Although not much is known about how these guardians are powered, it is believed that the Ancient Weapon Core and the Ancient Guardian Seal may have something to do with it. These accessories contain some of the latent power of the guardians, which can help boost adventurers’ abilities.

Red Coral Earrings and Blue Coral Earrings belong to the Cox Pirates and can be found on Kuit Islands. These earrings are crafted from coral and seem to contain mysterious energies that grant the user powers. The Cox Pirates use the Red Earrings to improve their accuracy with weaponry, and the Blue Coral Earrings are a particular favorite of the pirates that like to look into the eyes of their enemies as they dig their swords deep.

There are also armors in this region which put anything crafted in Calpheon to shame. Grunil Armor is an incredibly versatile set that seem to have been separated across the inhabitants of Mediah, and collecting all the pieces could increase your survivability by a lot.

Altinova Arena
But Mediah is not all about the dangers that lurk outside. After you complete the main quest of Mediah, you can start restoring glory to the Altinova Arena. It is a place where distinguished warriors fight for the entertainment of the local people. But where there was once nothing but roars and cheers for the crowds, silence has taken a hold. Some of the old fighters however want to breath a new life into the arena, and rumor has it that the Black Abyssal weapon is available to anyone who can bring back the glory to the Arena. But the rewards are not just the weapon, there are other Black Abyssal equipments to be earned in the arena.  Make sure to head to the Arena and restore glory to the fighters there, as this weapon is an incredible addition to any adventurer’s inventory.

Pure Black Stones have started to appear across the world of Black Desert. These incredibly rare stones contain energies that enhance the natural abilities of people. From making them stronger, to increasing their resilience, these incredibly powerful stones are priceless.

Other Notable Items

Upgrade your Dim Magical Armor!
A new questline has been added which will allow you to upgrade the Dim Magical Armor to higher levels! Once you reach level 50, the Black Spirit will give you a quest which takes you across Mediah to transfer you Dim Magical Armor into something more powerful! These quests are available once per family, so be careful not to lose or throwaway the armors once they have been powered up.

Kaia Gear
You can now rent the Kaia gear for contribution points in Calpheon. You can rent the Kaia Weapon from Kanovas, and the Kaia Armor from Dobart in Calpheon city. In order to rent the gear, you must be over level 45. Just like other contribution point rental items, you can get the contribution points back when they are returned.

Red Battlefield

Each match requires at least 2 people on each team before it starts and will end after 20 minutes. The team with the most points at the end of the day will be victorious.

Rules of Red Battlefield
- You must be level 50 in order to enter
- You can’t join Red Battlefield if you are in a party
- If you kill an enemy you will earn ½ of the enemies score. If you die you will lose ¼ of your score.
- Every player will have a minimum of 1 point

Enhancement Levels

Enhancement Levels PRI, DUO, and TRI have been added for weapons and armor. When upgrading from +15, you will need a Concentrated Magical Black Stone (armor) or a Concentrated Magical Black Stone (weapon). These powerful stones can be crafted through simple heating.
- Concentrated Magical Black Stone (armor)= 2 Black Stone (armor) + Hard Black Crystal Shard
- Concentrated Magical Black Stone (weapon)= 2 Black Stone (weapon) + Sharp Black Crystal Shard

Karma System Update
The Karma system in Black Desert was originally designed to add a certain element of risk to open world PvP. We have been monitoring a lot of the feedback we received on this topic, and with the upcoming increases to enhancement levels, we decided that the current system is a bit harsh for players who decide to go negative. We've tried to rebalance the system and have removed the chance of losing enhancements when going negative, while also giving a little more breathing room between the negative karma tiers.

The Karma system is how it is now on PC. It was too harsh before. Their was also ways around it whether you know it or not. 4 crystals would stop your gear from downgrading. Just purchase mass amounts of cheap crystals when going red. Now we don't have too. This is how it is on PC and how it should be. The kids saying noooooooo it should be more punishing. You literally have zero clue what your saying. Get further into the game and get some duo+ accessories etc. Lemme know how you feel then. Oh wait you can't because its fair now.

Stop dumbing the game down.  Your going to ruin it.

Explain. Nothing in this update "dumbed" the game down.

And you dont mention that you completly resetted the EU centra market prices to the day 1 prices? So you want me to sell stuff which i bought for 10k for 2k making it a 80% loss? So my 110 million now only worth 25 million? So i need to wait some weekm maybe month for the prices go back up where they were?

Thats a serious cut into the economy you did there. Without even mention a reason... come on

@[CM]Shirna this is what I've found so far.

Cursor jumping is still not fixed (greatly reduxed though).

Warehouse "there is no item" not fixed.

Memory leak after playing for a few hours and going into Calpheon, game crash.

Dim Magical Armour quest is M.I.A

Quest until we meet again, not working.

Mission types selected from profile page do not persist after crash.

Ring menu settings don't persist after crash.

Could you please clarify your decision behind the reset? Maybe not for most but at least for some, including me, it destryoed everything. I build up a worker empire and was server first for many cooking and production items just to get now whiped out everything (lost 80% of worth) without even a note in the patch notes? Lifeskilling makes 80% of the fun for me and yesterday i simply didnt wanna play anymore.

I expected eveything in this update but not that reset. Make it even worse that its not mentioned anywhere or answered in chat when i ask. Also it seems it only affected the EU server, NA everything stayed the same

100% agree but correction this also affected NA. All prices reset and lowered my net worth by 80%. Mainly need to know if this is going to happen after every maintenance so I can just give up lifeskilling before wasting any more time.

I already have the items you mention here and still completely disagree with you. The karma system is now to lenient. It was fine before. It was there for a reason.. to discourage people from PK when it’s not something the other player is wanting to do. The new karma system is complete garbage as it basically does nothing.

I died to the first fire boss in mediah and some ancient coins for the trader broke inside my bags. Nothing equipped downgraded. No crystals on.

Fire boss did like 3 sets of like 400 with his fire attack pulse caught me off guard to lose most of my life in 1 hit.

Didn't know bag items could be lost.
