Disappointed With The State of PVP.

I didn't play PC before so I had no idea how bursty the PvP would become after everyone started getting close to soft cap.

First off I'm pretty decently geared with around 209AP & 290DP. I play striker and can hold my own in the majority of encounters I have.  I have recently started losing interest in the PvP aspect of this game due to the insane burst potential that almost everyone possess after reaching lvl 60 and a certain AP. There is literally no counter play once you get caught in a cc & landing a cc is basically a case of RNG. Killing people in 3 seconds is really starting to get boring and really leaves me thinking this game is only going to get worse, as we continue to get better gear and more people reaching that 1 combo kill potential.

I find it laughable that people actually talk about skill in this game. As an MMO veteran of around 15 years this game is literally the most unskillful mmo I've ever played! Strangely it's also the most egotistical mmo I've ever played with a good portion of the playerbase actually thinking that having the ability to push 3 buttons on a controller results in a show of pure skill. 

Having progressed through all the Xbox patches I actually found that the pre awakening gameplay with max TRI equipment was the most fun aspect of PvP I've experienced in the game. Gameplay wasn't slow and burst potential was still there & you could definitely outplay people.  Everything seemed much more balanced (apart from rangers shotgun spam). 

I know the burst is only going to get worse and will never change, but I just think it's sad that a game that has so much potential really lacks in skill & depth when it comes to PvP.

I would love to see some major changes geared towards making this game a game of skill rather than a 1 combo RNG fest. The potential is there I've already seen it, but it's just needs some major tweaks to make it a competitive game that could maybe even eventually become an esport.

Landing a CC is in no way RNG, you land them in the gaps between people's frontal guards, I frames, or super armors. 

 

I much prefer these faster fights more than those 30 minute fights we were having right before Absolutes were introduced.

Pvp was more enjoyable for me before awakening. There was more ebb and flow and thinking about what was gonna happen next. Now it's just a race to land that cc and land the muscle memory combo.

I would say pearl abyss should add mechanics to counter ccs. Perhaps thru red battlefield if you earn so much tickets you can buy a special abilitie from the skill instructor that avoids the next cc done on you but has a 2 minute cool down.

It totally is mate. I get the mechanics and like them, but the main problem with such fast gameplay with invulnerability / immunity skills is that it relies heavily on the game being close to perfectly synced to form any sort of skill or counterplay. BDO is miles away from that in some cases it feels like a 1-2 second delay between players. This makes the whole iframes / SA a complete joke because all you can do it rotate certain abilities with the hope that you don't get caught In between some of this crap sync delay.

Pvp turned  into "first cc wins" situation. Especially if u are 60+ and have decent gear. This is why im attacking every ppl in arsha when i see them. They are potential enemies so i dont take risk to get first cc and killed.

That happens with every game, in pretty much every genre.

Yes every game will have it to an extent we are talking milli-seconds unlike BDO's actual seconds. I'm not sure what the server tick rate is but this is the most likely culprit of the desync issue. From what I've read the PC BDO has about 25-30hz. I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but I'm guessing that Xbox version is lower than that because Xbox games are notorious for having lower tick rates than PC. When you factor in additional things like the high quality of the graphics in BDO and the fact that the servers are probably always at about 20-40% of AFK players doing lifeskills,it puts a lot of extra stress in an already low tick rate server. 

Games like Warcraft have reported server tick rates of 100hz and that game has nowhere near the burst potential that BDO has. BDO PvP is more like playing FPS or MOBA than normal type MMO PvP so the server quality needs to reflect that or you end up with what we have now.
